偏惊物候新
Only those who travel far on official duty
Are startled by the changes of the season’s new beauty.
云霞出海曙
梅柳渡江春
Rosy clouds emerge from the sea at dawn,
Plum blossoms and willows cross the river, bringing spring.
淑气催黄鸟
晴光转绿苹
The gentle air urges the orioles to sing,
The sunny light turns the duckweed green.
忽闻歌古调
归思欲沾襟
Suddenly I hear your ancient-style song,
My longing for home nearly wets my lapel.
