The Old Fisherman
Author: Liu Zongyuan
This poem is included in Three Hundred Tang Poems.
At night the fisherman moors by the western cliff; at dawn he draws clear water from the Xiang River and burns bamboo from Chu.
烟销日出不见人,欸乃一声山水绿。
When the mist clears and the sun rises, no one is seen; only the creak of the oar is heard, and the hills and waters turn green.
回看天际下中流,岩上无心云相逐。
Looking back at the sky, he drifts down the midstream; on the cliff, the clouds chase each other without a care.
